T O P I C R E V I E WLuminosityI am very curious about this. If anyone could please give me some advice it would be much appreciated. I am curious about the significance of this too. Is it a planet or a sign that a chart is ruled by and how will this effect your life/personality/the people you attract into your life? If people could please post their charts as examples then that would be very helpful to me. In return I will post my chart! LazyscarecrowYour chart ruler is Mercury in Capricorn in the 8th house. You determine your chart ruler by the sign of your ascendant, Gemini in this case, and think of the planet that rules Gemini, Mercury, and locate what house and sign that it's in on your natal chart. Normally, you just go by the planet. Like, you say Mercury is my chart ruler, or Jupiter, or Pluto and so on. But that's not the only thing you consider when it comes to interpretation. That's all I've got for now. Oh wait. As far as signifigance goes, I'm not 100% on it and someone else can elaborate, but the ruling planet is supposedly what colors your personality and how you deal with life. Like if Mercury is your ruler, you may be flighty, wordy, communication might rule your life a great deal, or anything else that that is Mercurial. Maybe intellectual pursuits, in the 8th house, you may very very studious on obscure subjects. Just an example, I could be way off.sorenWell from my own observations of what my astrology is, your ruling planet is the planet that is closest your ascendent. My ascendent was conjunct saturn and that was definitely my ruling planet, I was one of the shyest and most restricted person around. So that's what I would go by if i were you. But since you have no planets conjunct or very close to your ascendent, then I dont know what your ruling planet is. WHat do you feel your ruling planet is? I would assume that the moon would have the biggest effect on you, because probably around 2-3 hours after you were born it slowly came closer to your ascendent and eventually conjunct it. So maybe when you are older you will feel your moon much stronger and be ruled by it. That's my tid bitsorenI know this sounds weird and might be too much info, but saturn was my ruling planet for about 21 years until the sun conjunct my ascendent and then i became ruled by the sun. so saturn was actually at like 9 degrees in the 12th house but it was still my ruling planet until the sun conjunct my ascendent. many people might not believe me on that^^ though. but if you believe me then perhaps it is the planet that is closest to your ascendent above the horizon. so maybe your ruling planet is jupiter for now. do you match jupiters characteristics? do you philosophise? or are you more deep and emotional like the moon? or maybe its different for everyone and the ruling planet doesnt have to be close to the ascendent, but my ruling planets have changed whenever they conjunct my ascendentamowls**Chart ruler is different from ruling/most dominant planet. The Chart Ruler is simply the ruler of the Ascendant.Determining dominance is a bit different and more complicated.Luminosity quote:Originally posted by amowls**:Chart ruler is different from ruling/most dominant planet. What factors would you have to consider to figure out what the dominant planet in a chart would be?? I often feel quite Leo, though I do have quite a influences from Leo. quote:This is interesting...how is that? What factors would you have to consider to figure out what the dominant planet in a chart would be??I think like, how many planets are in the sign ruled by it, house ruled by it, how well aspected it is, reception, dignities...probably plenty of reasons why a planet may be stronger than the chart ruler.
